Desktop Slideshow
Desktop Slideshow is a utility for periodically cycling your desktop
background image through a set of image files. There's not a lot else to say,
really. It pretty much does what the name implies: plays a slideshow on your
desktop.
Features
- Multi-user support; all users' settings are stored separately.
- Users can create multiple slideshows.
- Can run as a system-tray application, with access provided through
a right-click menu on the tray icon.
- Can auto-play a slideshow on startup.
- Works properly from your Startup folder.
- Four image display modes: Centered, Stretched to fit screen, Scaled to fit
screen (e.g. "letterboxed"), and Tiled.
- Can change your background image as fast as once per second (although this
is not recommended).
- In-order and Random-order play modes.
- Can label images with their filenames while playing.
Features currently in planning but not yet implemented include:
- Ability to use images stored on the web (currently only uses images on
your computer).
- Position, font, and color settings for image labels.
- Auto-generating slideshows based on image attributes (after Windows
"Longhorn" ships).
- Ability to specify whether image directories in a slideshow should be
searched recursively for images.
System Requirements
- Microsoft Windows XP or later.
- .NET Framework v1.1 or later.
- ~120k free disk space
