The chronology starts several thousand years before year 0, which is defined as the year in which Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope takes place. I use fractional years, to indicate the order between unrelated works that take place in the same year (as in The Vandelhelm Mission and The Ewok Adventure). I use alphabetic suffixes to indicate that several works collectively form a series in which the events in one work are immediately followed by the events in the next (as in the Young Jedi Knights books, which are 25a through 25f.) Sometimes this convention doesn't work out so well, like when an unrelated work happens to take place during a series of other works (e.g. Star Wars: Lightsider taking place in the middle of Timothy Zahn's three novels), but it's typically not too difficult to figure out what's going on. One of these days i'm going to have to move to a non-linear (or multi-linear) chronology, but that can wait for later.
The dates in this chronology come from a variety of sources. Many of them come from the previous version of this list. Others come from explicit references in the items themselves. Some I have great faith in, and others the best guesses I could make. In any event, they are as accurate as I know how to make them.
